Concepts Covered

Moving objects contain energy. The energy of motion is a kind of mechanical energy. The energy of motion is called kinetic energy. Motion is the change in the position of an object. Speed is the rate at which an object changes its position. The greater the speed of an object, the more energy it possesses. The greater the mass of an object, the more force is needed to change the motion of the object. Energy can be moved from place to place by moving objects.

Practice your archery skills in a nearby forest, ride the minecart through an abandoned mine, scale the icy mountains in this adventure of Speed and Energy to find the treasure!

Energy Skate Park - Intro Estimated Duration: 10 minutes Learn about the conservation of energy at the skate park! Explore different tracks and skaters, and investigate the relationship between the kinetic energy, potential energy, and thermal energy. Measure the speed and adjust the friction, gravity, and mass.

Energy Skate Park - Playground Estimated Duration: 10 minutes Design and build your own skateboarding tracks, ramps, and jumps to explore the conservation of energy. Control the skater's mass, measure the speed, and change the amount of friction on the track. See the kinetic, potential, and thermal energy in the system graphed in real-time!

Speed Surge: The Quest For Energy Estimated Duration: 15 minutes Speed Surge is a 3d, arcade, physics-based, vehicle-driving game. Players are tasked with driving a variety of vehicles down a selection of tracks, to build up speed and kinetic energy to perform various tasks. This will teach the students about motion, kinetic and mechanical energy Speed Surge consists of 4 short tracks. Each track has a task based on the core and peripheral concepts. It’s the night before the Robo League championship. But problems have arisen with the new set of vehicles and courses. Sadly the test driver for the day has failed to show up. Each course and vehicle needs testing before they can be put into the race. It's up to our robot to drive each course and test each vehicle for its speed and energy levels. Complete various tests and challenges, from doing stunts to bowling over giant pins. Will the championship go ahead? It's up to our players to find out!

Galaxy Escape Estimated Duration: 20 minutes 10 Bright Monsters have been captured in space and they need your help to cross the galaxy jumping between platforms, finding them, and releasing them by correctly answering each question. Each monster that you release and unlock will be available to play with in the next level, in the search for the next monster. In your journey, you’ll be able to find power-ups, like ‘Double points’ and ‘Slow down’, which can be activated by finding gems, and their duration can be extended by correctly answering a question. Unlock and release the 10 different monsters and a spaceship along 10 different levels, while you make the most possible points.
