Fluently Multiply Multi-Digit Whole Numbers Math Games

3 games

In this series of games, your students will learn to fluently multiply multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm. The Fluently Multiply Multi-Digit Whole Numbers learning objective — based on CCSS and state standards — delivers improved student engagement and academic performance in your classroom, as demonstrated by research. This learning objective directly references 5.NBT.B.5 as written in the common core national math standards.

Concepts Covered

Understand that algorithms for multiplication and division are abbreviations for reasoning about quantities. Standard algorithms for base-ten multiplication are based on decomposing numbers written in base-ten notation. Multiplication of two multi-digit whole numbers is reduced to a collection of single-digit computations. The standard algorithm can multiply with partial products left to right or right to left. It also can be applied right to left with regrouping.
