General methods used for computing products of whole numbers extend to products of decimals. General methods used for computing quotients of whole numbers extend to decimals. A whole number is not usually written with a decimal point, but a decimal point followed by one or more 0s can be inserted on the right. The process of composing and decomposing a base-ten unit is the same for decimals as for whole numbers.
