Conservation of Energy Science Games
10 gamesIn this series of games, your students will learn how energy is transferred into, out of, and within a system. The Conservation of Energy learning objective — based on NGSS and state standards —delivers improved student engagement and academic performance in your classroom, as demonstrated by research.

Concepts Covered
Energy can be transferred from one place to another and transformed from one type to another, but it cannot be created or destroyed.
When we talk about “energy loss,” it is not actually a loss, but rather a transformation of usable energy into unusable energy, like when a machine loses energy in the form of heat.
Any time an object’s kinetic energy changes, another part of the system experiences a change in energy as well until equilibrium is established. As the object falls, its gravitational potential energy (GPE) decreases and is converted to kinetic energy (KE). As it moves uphill, kinetic energy decreases and transforms into gravitational potential energy.
When a rubber band is stretched or a spring is compressed, kinetic energy is converted to elastic potential energy. When it is released, that elastic potential energy transforms into kinetic energy.
