Real World Problems With System Of Equations Math Games

6 games

In this series of games, your students will learn to solve real-world and mathematical problems leading to two linear equations in two variables. The Real World Problems With System Of Equations learning objective — based on CCSS and state standards — delivers improved student engagement and academic performance in your classroom, as demonstrated by research. This learning objective directly references 8.EE.C.8.c as written in the common core national math standards.

Concepts Covered

A system of equations refers to a set of two or more equations with an equal number of variables. The solution for a system of equations is an intersection of the graph of the two equations. The solution for a system of equations is an ordered pair and it is the solution to both equations. Solutions to systems of equations that are independent are lines that intersect at one particular point and have one solution. Solutions to systems of equations that are dependent describe the same line and have all of the same points in common; hence, there is an infinite number of solutions to the system. Graphs of equations that are parallel lines will never intersect and have no solutions.

Analyze and determine if a system of equations has one, none, or infinite solutions. Solve systems of equations algebraically by substitution. Solve real-world problems using a system of equations where two quantities are compared. Write the equations using consistent variables that refer to the same quantity.
