Represent Proportions As Equations Math Games

3 games

In this series of games, your students will learn how to represent proportional relationships by equations. The Represent Proportions As Equations learning objective — based on CCSS and state standards — delivers improved student engagement and academic performance in your classroom, as demonstrated by research. This learning objective directly references 7.RP.A.2.c as written in the common core national math standards.

Concepts Covered

Ratios happen when there are two or more quantities related. Ratios can have the same units (ratios) or different units (rates). The term Ratio can be used for same and different units as well. See proportions as equations in the form of y = cx where c is the constant of proportionality. Forming an equation is done by cross-multiplying two rations. Using cross-multiplication of two ratios to show equivalent ratios will yield the equation as  t = pn. When setting up the proportion the units must be consistent.
